The Scan Files dialog box is where you activate ‚ÄúSUPERFAST FILE SCANNING‚Ñ¢‚Äù. It is not enough to say that SUPERFAST FILE SCANNING automatically scans files. SUPERFAST FILE SCANNING scans files as soon as the files ‚ÄúHIT THE DISK‚Äù, so to speak. There is virtually NO delay between when the file gets written to the disk and when VirusDetective hunts for HTDs. If there were a delay (as there is with all other anti-virus programs), it is then that HTDs have ample opportunity to infect your disks.

  7. SUPERFAST FILE SCANNING automatically scans each file that gets copied to ANY of your disks‚Ķ
  8.             ‚Ķfrom ANY source‚Ķ such as‚Ķ
  9.                     ‚Ķfrom an electronic bulletin board (downloaded), or
  10.                             after being uncompressed from a compression utility (like StuffIt) or an archive, or
  11.                                     from a file server, or
  12.                                            or from a network, or
  13.                                                    from a floppy disk, or
  14.             ‚ĶYEP, YOU GOT THE IDEA ‚Äì from just about ANY source you can think of !

  32. The Scan files CREATED on‚Ķ checkboxes are where you determine what disk categories VirusBlockade will perform SUPERFAST FILE SCANNING on in regard to any and all files that are CREATED.

  39. Scan files (resources) CHANGED on‚Ķ is the other of two places where you can activate SUPERFAST FILE SCANNING.

  41. The Scan files (resources) CHANGED on‚Ķ checkboxes are where you determine what disk categories VirusBlockade will perform SUPERFAST FILE SCANNING in regard to any and all files that are CHANGED. VirusBlockade only tracks changes to resource forks.

  43. When VirusDetective finds an HTD, it alerts you that it found an HTD.

  47. C)  WHEN VIRUSDETECTIVE HAS FOUND A MATCHING FILE (THAT IS, IT HAS FOUND AN INFECTED FILE), YOU WANT VIRUSBLOCKADE TO‚Ķ BUTTONS AND CHECKBOX‚Ķ
  48. The beginning of the sentence is When VirusDetective has found a matching file (that is, it has found an infected file), you want VirusBlockade to‚Ķ; finish the sentence with: 
  49. 1) ‚Äú‚ĶONLY notify you that a matching file was found (that is, you merely want to stay informed ‚Äì nothing else is done)‚Ķ‚Äù; 
  50. 2) ‚Äú‚Ķdelete the matching file‚Ķ‚Äù; 
  51. 3) ‚Äú‚Ķmove the matching file to folder [named] ‚Äú¬ø¬øInfected Files??‚Äù‚Ķ‚Äù; or 
  52. 4) ‚Äú‚Ķrename the matching file to end with: ‚Äú¬øVirus? DATE TIME‚Äù‚Ķ‚Äù.

  54. After 2), 3) or 4), you can click the ‚ĶAND notify you checkbox.

  57. When you click the ‚ĶONLY notify you that a matching file was found‚Ķ button, you merely want to stay informed. Remember that it is your responsibility to deal with each infected file!

  59.                NOTE: In the vast majority of cases, just having an infected file on your disk will NOT infect your disk.

  61. C.2.1  ‚Äú‚Ķdelete the matching file‚Ķ‚Äù button‚Ķ
  62. When you click the ‚Ķdelete the matching file‚Ķ button, VirusBlockade immediately gets rid of the infected file, erases it off your disk. If you want to be told that it found a file and deleted that file, click the ‚ĶAND notify you checkbox.

  64. C.2.2  ‚Äú‚Ķmove the matching file to folder [named] ‚Äú¬ø¬øInfected Files??‚Äù‚Ķ‚Äù button‚Ķ

When you click the ‚Ķmove the matching file to folder [named] ‚Äú¬ø¬øInfected Files??‚Äù‚Ķ button, you are telling VirusBlockade you want it to relocate any infected files to a desktop-level folder which has the default name of ‚Äú¬ø¬øInfected Files??‚Äù. Change the name of the folder as you wish. Remember that it is your responsibility to deal with each infected file!

  67. If a second file of the same name is to be moved into the infected files folder it will be renamed (as described below) before it is moved to the folder.

  72. When you click the ‚Ķrename the matching file to end with: ‚Äú¬øVirus? DATE TIME‚Ķ button, VirusBlockade renames the file to end with ‚Äú¬øVirus?‚Äù, and the current date and time. Remember that it is your responsibility to deal with each infected file!

  89. <You are in this file now.> If you want to copy the text file to the Clipboard, click the Help->Clipboard button. Paste the contents of the Clipboard to wherever you want it (which would probably be a word processing program like Microsoft Word or possibly a page layout program like Quark XPress). Click the OK button when you want to close the Help file.

  92. When you click the Cancel button: 
  93.           1) if you made any changes, VirusBlockade presents an alert box that asks ‚ÄúSave changes to {name of the dialog box}?‚Äù. You have the choice between: Don‚Äôt Save, Cancel (this cancel cancels the first cancel) or Save;
  94.           2) if you didn‚Äôt make any changes, VirusBlockade brings you back to the Main Window.
